***  1999 Las Vegas Reunion  ***

***  Enjoy that Moment We Had  ***

September 10 -- Las Vegas weather: Mostly clear; Temperature: Ave. 90 F (32.2 C)

Wang Xingcai(Tim) is first classmate to arrive in Las Vegas Airport at 2:50pm.

September 11 -- 12 classmates met at Las Vegas China Town. We had a wonderful time!

September 11 -- Gu Xiao Lu said:

Tan Ming came Los Angeles & Las Vegas two weeks ago with his wife and his son(One year old).

September 12 -- Jesse Li was a lucky man, he put $10 into a slot machine, got $500 back. That was his reward for organizing this reunion.

September 13 -- Zhan Shu Hui was last classmate to leave Las Vegas, also she stayed in Vegas the longest - three nights.(9/10 - 9/13)

September 13 -- Wang Guang Hua:

"As the last one to leave Las Vegas, I felt how warm the friendship was. I missed all of you last night. I will always remember the two wonderful reunion days. Thank you Jesse for everything you did for this reunion."

September 13 -- Fu Wei Hua:

"I wanted to thank you all so much for this wonderful reunion in Vegas. Thanks to Jesse, Xiao Shi, and Lian Hui for all the work you guys put in to make this such a memorable time. Wang Guang Hua said it. I felt very welcomed and appreciated. (Hope I was right. Ha, Ha...) And I feel so close to everyone of you. It sure brings back memories!"

September 13 -- Qi Qi:

"When I saw the phrase 'last one leaving Las Vegas,' I really didn't know how to decribe my feelings. Guanghua Wang and I stayed in one room and talked about four years of roommateship. I remembered 20 years ago on the first day to Fudan, his parents went to Fudan helping him set up the upper bunker bed, as did my parents for me the same day same time. Now we talked about our own kids and thinking about their future colleges days.

The reunion was simply wonderful, thanks to Jessie, Hui Lian and Xiao Shi and all of us who made it possible. I wish we will see each other again in the near future."

September 13 -- Qin Zhou Xin(Jason):

"I am very glad to see you in Las Vegas. Though Las Vegas is a "devil" place, it did give me wonderful time in my life.

As I said in the reunion that I cried two times in the public, the first one was in Fudan, when all of your guys accompanied me to the bus station in 83. The second time was my wife left me in 97. Both of the two things stay deeply in my mind. I love my wife, my child, my Fudan and all of you!

The reunion recalled my memory from my 18. In my lunch time today, I walked to my wife's office and tried to get some feeling. I realized that everybody could not catch the things that already passed. You only could catch the happy moments and meaningful period in your life.

I appreciate all of you to give me so many warm greetings and advices. I especially appreciate Jesse and Xiao Shi to bring me the wonderful reunion. I am missing you!"

September 13 -- Lian Hui:

"I was in tears when I read Jason's letter. It is so true that we can't catch what's been passed but we can make our happy moment. What could be an ordinary weekend in a September of the 20th century has turned into a monumental piece in our memory. We have made it. We have chosen not to spend time dealing with household routines, making extra dollars, or to do things we would never remember ten years from now. We have chosen to share our happy moments together.

One lesson I learned during these years is that we need to enjoy life along the way. That means we have to work and invest on our happiness. I wish at the end of my life journey I could proudly say to myself: "I tried, enjoyed and loved it." I thank you all for your friendship. September 1999 symbolizes eternity. We reunited in September 1999; we have our friendship forever."

September 14 -- Shi Zhangchu:

I will work for an internet station(IQman Technologies Inc.) on my part-time. The company is sponsored by American venture bussinessmen. It will raise financial information include chinese stocks, foreign exchange-rate(USdollor/japanese Yen etc). I will do investment comment to visitors. And we will do someotherthings like American E-com. It is very interesting bussiness in China now. I will let you know further later. I wonder why our classmates in US don't do those bussiness.

Nov. 24 -- Jesse Li From San Francisco:

Dear all, I just received a call from Wang Guang Hau's wife. Old Wang was pass away this morning in a New York Hospital. Several days ago a big tumor was found in his brain. After surgery, it seemed successful and but suddenly the condition was twisted.

When we are going to celebrate Thanksgiving Holiday, we miss one of best friends. I still vividly remember the last e-mail sent by him when he left Las Vegas....

Nov. 24 -- Qi Qi From Los Angeles:

I am so shocked to hear the news. It seemed just like yesterday we shared a room in Las Vegas. And I can still remember his parents, who sent him to Fudan the first day of college. Now it looks like the white-haired folks are sending off a black-haired guy. Life is so unpredictable: one moment we were laughing heartily at some good jokes, the next we are shedding tears for a good old friend in our crowd. Is there anything we can do to alleviate the pain and suffering of his family?

Nov. 24 -- Shi Zhangchu from Silicon Valley, Ca:

Wang Guanghua left suddenly, shocked me. I still remember at Vegas' Reunion, we shared a room at first day & had a talk. He told me he was born in Hong Kong, his family, his wife & kids, his job... After 2 minutes talking, Lao Wang snored, fell sleeping. He was too tired...
I did a web page for Lao Wang with my deepest sympathy.
guanghua99.html

Nov. 25 -- Wang Xingcai from China:

I still can not believe what Li Shuochuan said was real! I was so shocked! I suggest we provide necessory help if we can.

Nov. 25 -- Tian Ya from Italy:

I'm shocked and very sad to learn of Wang Guanghua's untimely death. If convenient, could you please convey to the wife of our late classmate my condolence on this tragic event.

Nov. 25 -- Feng Jun from Shanghai:

I can not believe what Tim's Email said was real! Wang Guanghua with his family were in Shanghai last Summer. He carefully made arrangements for his parents's new apartment in west suburber. I was so shocked!!!

Nov. 25 -- Li Junmin from Japan:

I am the husband of Zhang Xiao-qin. Since she is very busy day and night on business till the end of this month, I could be on behalf of her to tell all her mood.

She is really very shock and sad by the sad news about Wang Guanghua, and would convey most condolence to his family, so am I. If any, to provide necessary help and release his family of suffering, we would do our best.

Nov. 25 -- Lian Hui from Washington DC:

I cannot get over with this shocking and sad news. The cool, the unflapable and the lively Wang Guang Hua left us in such a hurry, as hurrily as he tried to achieve what he wanted during his short life span. I recall in the Vegas reunion he told us that during his three-week vacation in China this summer, he bought an apartment for his aging parents. He said he wish some day his parents could come to live with him here in the U.S. He talked to us his thoughts about his children's education. He was trying to help a friend to set up a blind date...

I believe God will provide strength to Guang Hua's family to endure the loss. For those of us who have the strength and luck, let us be helpful to his family in any way we can. Let us help each other so that we will feel we are not alone in this world.

Today is Thanksgiving day. Thanks God to let Guang Hua come cross our life path. He will remain part of us forever.

Nov. 26 -- Xu Shuang Long from Shanghai:

I heard it from Zhang Songhao & was shocked. Even now I can't believe it. In my memory in Fudan university, Wang Guang Hua was a lucky man and good at keeping his health. It's a pity that I haven't met him in shanghai last summer.

Nov. 26 -- Jesse Li From San Francisco:

This early morning, I received another call from Lao Wang's wife who specially emphasized that her family does not want to pass this bad news to Lao Wang's parents. I conveyed condolences from all our 7926 classmates. His wife briefed "the story" to me.

Two weeks ago, Lao Wang went to exam his eyes due to his right eye's vision problem. Then the eye doctor found something was wrong. After extensive checking, a egg size tumor was found in his brain. If not conducting the surgery right away, his both eyes could be blind. They finally hired a famous doctor to perform the surgery. However, after three hours surgery, he was only staying at the intensive care unit for several hours and was released to the regular room. This is a very big mistake made by this hospital. Normally, after this kind of big surgery, the patient has to stay in the intensive care room at least for three days. When Lao Wang's wife found her husband was in great pain, she was shouting and asking for help but in vain. No doctor came to perform the emergency rescue. Only the nurse came to take a look. Finally, the doctor arrived, but it was too late. His wife was helpless watching her husband dying in front of her at the last two seconds.

It was obviously a medical accident. Lao Wang left two sons, one is studying at the high school and one is in the elementary school. His wife needs a lot of encouragement and support to continue on with the life of this family.

Nov. 26 -- Zhang Songhao From Shanghai:

I'm deeply sorry to hear the sad news that Wang Guang-hua left us. I am so shocked that I could not at first believe it. If there is anything I can do in Shanghai, please call on.

Nov. 26 -- Yu Wei (Julius) from Portland, Oregon:

I just could not believe what I read in 7926 folks' e-mails when I opened my inbox today at office.

Last time I met Lao Wang was in NYC a little more than two years ago. That was the only time we met since so many years. He knocked my room door at hotel and I was surprised to see that he looked so good (fu2 tai4). We had dinner together in a Korean restaurant somewhere in mid-town. I still remember the "noise" (by his kids) I heard from phone when calling him home -- the "noise" of a happy family. It is really such a shocking news that we've lost another old classmate!

Nov. 26 -- Chen Fenqi from Hawaii:

I am overwhelmed with grief brought about by this tragic news. Life is not under a human being's control. Although 7926 is a relatively young group, we have already lost two of our members. At this sad moment, like all of you, my heart and prayers go to Guang Hua's family. Jessy please convey my deepest condolence to his family and let me know if I can be of any assistance.

If this is a medical malpractice, those of you familiar with legal affairs maybe can offer some useful suggestions on how to take legal actions to have the hospital indemnify Guang Hua's family for the immense financial and emotional losses incurred on them.

Nov. 27 -- Jesse Li From San Francisco:

I have confirmed Lao Wang's home address and his wife's name with their eldest son this morning. After discussion with several classmates, if anyone is willing to send the condolence, support and messages to his family, please use the following address. Please do not use Lao Wang current e-mail address which is his company's e-mail.

Here is the address:

Hui Fen Qiu
105-25 65th Avenue #5F
Forest Hills, NY 11375
U.S.A.

Nov. 28 -- Lu Ding & Li Qing From Shanghai:

Shocked to learn Guang Hua's passaway. Please convey our deepest condolence to Lao Wang's wife and children.

We are currently in Shanghai for a few weeks to take care of Qing's mother who just had a major surgery. Ding talked to several classmates in Shanghai over phone, including Wang Zhan and Shuanglong. All are saddened about this heavy loss to 7926.

Nov. 29 -- Jesse Li From San Francisco:

It has been confirmed that Lao Wang's funeral will be held at Central/Fogarty Funeral Home on 12/4/1999 in New York City.

Fu Wei Hua and Lian Hui will attend to the Funeral service. A flower arrangement will be prepared in the name of Fudan University of Class 7926.

Due to the time constrain, it was suggested that anyone is willing to contribute fund or supports, please notify Fu Wei Hua for the amount by e-mail or phone call ASAP. Late on you can reimburse to her. It is more proper to let Fu Wei Hua deliver one check and one card to Lao Wang's wife since many of us do not know Lao Wang's wife. It also welcome anyone would like to send the check directly to the family.

Dec. 1 -- Wang Yu From Dallas, Texas:

I was on vacation and read this mail several days late. However, I was still so shocked. During our Vegas reunion, we kind voted that Guang Hua looks the youngest among the classmates who were close to his age.

Guang Hua and I had several chances to talk in private. We admired each other for our life and work. We all expressed our wish to take our children to Vegas for a revisit. I still appreciate the Vegas reunion. I believe that Guang Hua's soul would say so. I felt I knew him more just in two days there than that in the four years college life. Guang Hua left us with both old and refreshed memories.

I would like to make a promise. If Guang Hua's two children are willing, I will take them there and stay in Paris Hotel for 4 days or a week. Guang Hua expressed his wish there.

Dec. 2 -- Zhang Xiao Qin from Japan:

I was so sad to hear the shocking news my husband told me when he checked mails. I was working very hard like a machine with the joy of having got in touch with my precious friends again, and the expectation to meet you all in the next reunion gave me the energy to keep on going. Now I've finished my hardest work of this year, visit 7926 site and see the pictures of Las Vegas reunion again, I still can not imagine what happened. Life is proved to be fragile. We are weak ourselves, but let's be helpful to Lao Wang's family who are suffering much bigger loss than we are.

Dec. 2 -- Fu Wei Hua from New York:

By now, you probably heard that I am taking up a collection for Wang Guanghua's family to help alleviate the immediate financial burden. You can e-mail me or call at (518)489-1425 to pledge the amount. Of course this is strictly voluntary, and you can also send the check directly to the family.

Dec. 4 -- Shi Zhangchu from Silicon Valley, Ca:

Today is Guang Hua's funeral at Central/Fogarty Funeral Home in New York City. We pray for Guang Hua: God will take care of you.

guanghua99.html

Dec. 4 -- Luan Wen Bai from San Jose, Ca:

While the funeral of our former classmate and friend Guang Hua is going on, let's all together pray for him, wishing him rest peacefully forever in the heaven.

Thank you, Wei Hua, and Jesse and Hui for your sparing time to represent 7926 to attend the funeral! Please give my condolences on the death of Guang Hua to his family. May Guang Hua have a nice journey in another eternal world!

Dec. 6 -- Lian Hui from Washington DC - Wang Guang Hua's Funeral Briefing:

On December 4, 1999, Li, Shuo Chuan, Fu, Wei Hua and I (Lian, Hui) on behalf of 7926 attended Wang Guang Hua's funeral held at Central/Fogarty Funeral Home in Flushing, New York.

Steve Shi : I will make a page for "Wang Guang Hua's Funeral Briefing".

Dec. 8 -- Hui Fen, Howard and George Wang from New York:

Our family have the most appreciation to all of your condolence and sympathy on the death of Guanghua Wang. Thanks you all the friends from Fudan 7926 for the supports, encouragements and contributions. Also, the special thanks to Jesse Li, Celile W. Fu and Lian Hui who came far away to attend Guanghua's funeral on Dec. 4, 1999. A lot of thanks to Lian Hui, Jesse Li and Steve Qi who spent time listen to our sad story and provide useful information and sugessions for the survivors...

Guanghua's funeral went through smoothly on Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999. He was buried on Westchest County , upstate of New York - on a hill surrounded by the mountains, lake, river and pine trees. Over ten years' "tough life" in New York city, Guanghua is too tired. He left behind a loving family and unfinished wishes, goes to rest. Rest in peace.

Guanghua had a very good time in Las Vegas. He had told me that someday he'll bring our family there - stay in Paris Hotel. Thanks for Wang Yu's promise. I belive someday in the further I will bring the two boys there for the journey Guanghua wished.

Today is Jesse's Birthday. Best wishes to Jesse. Have a very happy birthday!

Dec. 10 - Steve Shi mada a page for Guang Hua's Funeral Briefing & Guang Hua's family letter.

Dec. 12 -- Lian Hui's greeting from Washington DC:

On this third Sunday in Advent, my best wishes go to all of you for a happy new millennium.

1999 is a special year for 7926 folks. Initiated by Jesse and facilitated by Steve (Shi), we reunited in the cyber universe as well as in the country that adopted some of us, the United States.

It's been sixteen years since our graduation. Most of us recognize that memories from our youth become an inseparable part of our identity. As we look forward to the new millennium, what we do today will impact how we perceive our lives in the future. What we have is 7926, a caring community.

The tragedy of Wang, Guang Hua's premature passing away before the Thanksgiving put a shadow on all of us. 7926 friends reached out with helpful hands. I have witnessed many touching stories during the process of helping Guang Hua's family. As a group we are as closely knitted as ever.

During this holiday season, let us remember those who are gone and wish them the best in another world. For the rest of us, let us transform the sorrow into the rainbow of guiding the hope. Enjoy life and rejoice friendship. Hope will eventually overcome anxiety and triumph in the end.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dec. 13 -- Yong Ming Li from New York:

1. Jesse Li initiated the process of reuniting 7926 friends by collecting contact information & established contacts among us.

2. Steve Shi's hard work & creativity led to the debut of 7926's cyber reunion: www.fudan7926.com. Steve facilitates the caring & loving community of 7926.

3. 7926's Las Vegas reunion is the highlight of the year. Many friends met the first time since our graduation 16 years ago. Friendship from bygone era gets renewed and enhanced. We had the joys that friendship can bring.

4. 7926's deepest sorrow & loss of the year are the premature passing away of its member, Wang Guang Hua. In addition to the sorrow & the loss of a dear friend, we 7926 as a group demonstrated what true friendship brings: help, care, and love.

5. Birth of Luan Wen Bai's daughter (Lucille) adds one new life into 7926 community. Life is always worth celebrating.
